Angelo's Wine Bar
The Marriage of Wine and Food
Angelo’s Wine Bar, an Italian fusion shared plates restaurant, originally opened in 1962 as a casual take out pizzeria. As the neighborhood grew so did Angelo’s. In 2015 the restaurant closed for a massive facelift which included launching a wine program and new menu. Chef Samuel Leal's rustic menu, featuring Midwest ingredients from valued local purveyors, takes its cue from his travels to South East Asia, South America, and Europe. Beyond reflecting the aromas, flavors and colors of the Italian explorers in its cuisine, Angelo's wine list focuses on boutique vineyards from Italy, France, and Spain with a nod to several excellent American producers.
Wine and the food it pairs with remains at Angelo’s core. Curated by our sommelier Georges Bredoux the wine list features small producers from France, Italy, Spain and America, the list offers 101 wines priced between $30 and $90 a bottle with a reserve list for those who want to splurge. Thirty wines are offered by the glass, encouraging guests to experiment with Angelo’s selection of exciting wines. The bar also offers an a beautiful list of handcrafted cocktails selected to best complement Chef Leal’s cuisine. Grappa, amaro, vermouth and sparkling wines round out the beverage list.
